The new ‘Survivor’ will be filmed for the first time, just as ‘Big Brother’ was filmed at the time. The broadcast of the episodes will almost coincide with the real time in which the action takes place, BTV reported. Viewers will be actively involved in the intrigue and will have a say in how the events in the survival show will play out. The place of action this season will be the Caribbean, and the motto is “Into unknown water”.
Since casting for new ‘Survivor’ participants didn’t begin until late summer, everyone expected the show wouldn’t be prepped until next fall. It was believed that filming would start in February and the finished episodes would be on screen from September next year. This is the usual pace at which survival reality has been created so far.
However, BTV kept it a secret until the end that they have adopted a new way of working for the upcoming season 7. For the first time, they will broadcast the episodes in near real time. The contestants will actually depart for the Caribbean shortly after New Year’s, but the episodes will be edited on location and aired within days or even hours of events actually taking place.
This will allow the opinion of viewers to be reflected in the show as well. How this will happen, television has not yet revealed. Due to the time difference, there’s no way to do live broadcasts where the audience can vote for their favourites, but the team came up with another way to get the viewer involved in the action.
It is possible that people in front of televisions have the right to save already eliminated participants and bring them back into the game, and they may also have the ability to send those they do not like to elimination battles. This will avoid allegations of manipulation of the final leaderboard results and winner selection.
Exactly what the team has decided on will soon become clear, as “Survivor” 7 will air during the spring TV season, which typically begins in mid-February. The short time between filming and airing of the episodes will make it very difficult to leak information about the winner of the reality show. Until now, the risk of such a leak was high, as the winner was chosen months before the episodes aired. Although both the team and the participants sign confidentiality agreements, there has always been a “traitor” who leaked the curious details in advance. Now it will be almost impossible.
The new approach to work will most likely make the show more expensive, but the intrigue is expected to be greater and hence the rating to rise. BTV will announce who will be the new participants after the new year. Then it will be understood whether the guest will continue to be Vlado Karamazov, or whether they have found a replacement for him. As recently as last year, there were rumors that it was time for the actor to retire from the reality show, but he still made it through season 6. And season 7? It will be clear in weeks.
