The board’s statement said: “OpenAI has been purposely structured to support the mission of ensuring that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Board remains fully committed to serving this mission. We are grateful for Sam’s many contributions to the founding and development of OpenAI. At the same time, we are convinced that new leadership is necessary in our further progress.”
She was appointed to the position of temporary general director Mira Muratithe company’s current chief technology officer.
OpenAI’s Board of Directors now consists of OpenAI Chief Scientist Ilja Sutskever, Quora Independent Director Adam D’Angelo, tech entrepreneur Tasha McCauley, and Helen Toner of the Georgetown Center for Security and Emerging Technologies. Most of the board members are independent, and the independent board members do not own any shares in OpenAI.
