The 2020 financial year nevertheless went surprisingly well for Volkswagen. The brand is still writing black figures and even more than that, because although the profit has halved in the past financial year compared to 2019, it is estimated that about ten billion euros was made in profit.

Volkswagen has already paid an advance of 1690.50 euros last November. This amount will be supplemented by another 1000 euros in May. This is to the delight of the works council, which sees the bonus mainly as ‘recognition of the great performance of the staff’, according to the general chairman of the board.

Nevertheless, the bonus is much lower than previous years in which the group reported one record financial year after another. By way of comparison: for 2019 Volkswagen paid its CLA employees a profit distribution of 4950 euros. Porsche paid its employees a bonus of between 8,500 and nearly 10,000 euros over the past three years.
