In its history, Juventus have known bitter moments, where they came across the Calciopoli affair in 2006 and were relegated to the second tier of Italian football. But that happened over 15 years ago. And in the near future, there is a chance that history will repeat itself. So why is it the same?
The offices of the “Old Lady” in Turin and Milan were raided by security forces last week and billing documents and financial statements were confiscated.
An investigation by the Italian authorities into a total of 42 transfers, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Cancelo, Arthur Melo and Danilo, between 2019 and 2021. It is alleged that Juventus inflated the value of their players on their accounts and of Andrea Agnelli , Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici, now at Spurs, are cooperating in this investigation.
This is serious business and CODACONS, the Italian association for consumer rights, considers that automatic relegation to Serie B is possible if a guilty verdict is reached.
It turns out that after investigation, Juventus could be relegated to Serie B and their last Scudetto stripped if they are found guilty of false accounting.
