Only on Steam has the number of Battlefield players grown significantly since the Battlefield 2042 unveiling. Battlefield 4 doubled its record for simultaneous players on Steam, and also Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 have had a lot of traffic.

Modern warfare

After exploring World War I and II in their previous two games, the next Battlefield feature takes the trip back to the future. Battlefield 2042 drops the single player campaign and runs full focus on the multiplayer section, with heavy matches for up to 128 players on the same map.

Launch is set for October 22, and Battlefield 2042 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. The previous console generation will also be included, albeit with limitations related to player numbers and various functionality.

The first “gameplay” video was unveiled at E3.
