(CNN) — “Big Bang Theory” star Kate Miccuci says she is now cancer-free after sharing on social media last week that she underwent surgery following a lung cancer diagnosis.
Over the weekend, Miccuci shared an update on her TikTok page.
“I have great news, I am cancer free and last week’s surgery went very well. All reports said it worked, I don’t need to do any other treatment,” he said in his post.
Miccuci, who played Lucy on the CBS comedy, thanked her doctors and nurses “who took good care of me” and expressed that she is “forgetting it early because I’m very, very, very lucky and I know it.”
“I’m really grateful that things turned out the way they did,” she added.
When Miccuci, 43, first shared the news of her diagnosis and subsequent surgery, she explained that something unusual showed up in her blood work, which led to more tests and, ultimately, her cancer diagnosis.
“It’s really strange, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. So, you know, it was a surprise. But I also guess it happens and the best news is that they caught it early, they got it out, I’m fine,” she said at the time.
Research shows that lung cancer diagnoses have increased among women in recent years, even among non-smokers. Exposure to secondhand smoke, pollution, family history and other factors can contribute to a lung cancer diagnosis, says the American Cancer Society.
Micucci, who is also an artist, said last week that he will “probably move slowly for a few weeks” but plans to get back to work as soon as he can.
For now, she said over the weekend that she “feels great today and, honestly, very excited and truly grateful.”
“I’m excited to spend Christmas with my little one,” she concluded.
