Big Apple Celebrates Day of the Dead with Festive Events and Catrina Parade

The Day of the Dead will be celebrated in a big way starting this weekend in the Big Apple.

The Consulate of Mexico in New York is inviting you to a series of commemorative events of this traditional Mexican holiday that in recent years has become very popular in several countries.

The events will begin this Saturday, October 28, when the installation of monumental Catrinas will take place in Times Square.

These skulls representative of this holiday will be in the heart of Manhattan so that people can come to take photographs.

That same day at 5:30 in the afternoon a catrina parade will take place along Seventh Avenue to Sixth Avenue and will end at Rockefeller Center.

There it will end with an offering to the deceased.

Next Monday, October 30, there will be a Day of the Dead celebration in Flatiron – Nomad Plaza from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

While the main celebration will occur on November 2 in Times Square from 7:00 to 10:00 at night.

In both there will be traditional music, catrinas and altars to remember the deceased.
