“Big Amber” will celebrate its five-year anniversary with a concert in retro mood / Article / LSM.lv

Liepāja Concert Hall “Lielais dzintars” will celebrate its fiveth anniversary in two concerts on October 30 and 31 since the opening of the concert hall. The festival program will highlight episodes of Liepāja’s classical music history with a symphonic scope, highlighting the brightest personalities and world stars, the representatives of the concert hall informed.

The anniversary concert will honor the most important music masters of the past centuries – conductor Arvīds Jansons and opera singer Iraīda Jansone, Liepāja Opera soloist Mariss Vētra, composer Alfreds Kalniņš, long-term orchestra artistic director Imants Resnis and other brilliant personalities.

Together with pianist Agnese Egliņš, soprano Margarita Wilson and tenor Artjomas Safronovs, listeners will be able to enjoy a historically sonic insight into the rich musical history of Liepāja. The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (LSO), which resides in the concert hall, will be on stage throughout the concert. Gintars Rinkevičs, Chief Conductor of LSO, at the conductor’s desk. The concert will be conducted by Orest Silabriedis.

Baiba Bartkeviča, the artistic director of the concert hall, talks about the festival concert program:

“This time the anniversary concert will be like a retrospective journey through time.

We will remember and celebrate the rich concert life of the city of Liepaja, which has been active since the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. During the concert, we will touch on the 1920s, when the Liepaja Opera opened its doors and the Liepaja Philharmonic was restored, until today, when the Great Amber concert hall shines in Liepaja, and bright world performing arts stars give us unforgettable musical moments and experiences. ”

In the second part of the concert, Peter Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto will be performed by Swedish-born 19-year-old violinist Daniel Lozakovich.

“Daniel, a violinist wonder child, develops into an enchanted young man and performs with the world’s best orchestras and outstanding conductors. Shortly after his 15th birthday, he signed a contract with the famous Deutsche Grammophon and became the youngest artist in the house. Daniel’s game is compared to the performance of old masters, critics write about “perfect mastery”, “incomparable talent”, “combination of passion and precision”, and indeed – Daniel Lozakovich’s game has strength, scope, subtlety and fervor, “notes the representatives of” Big Amber “.

The concert is organized by SIA “Lielais dzintars” with the support of Liepāja Municipality and the State Cultural Capital Fund.
