In the first third, Ellental’s outsider kept the damage within bounds. This is also due to Doubrawa, who made some strong saves. The only goal before half-time is the defender’s responsibility: SCB defender Tim Schüle lost the puck to Dustin Jeffrey near his goal. Grizzly defender Jordan Murray perfected his cross pass by pinning the puck to Doubawa’s right shoulder to score 1-0 (8th).
A goal for the 600th match of DEL
In the middle third, Wolfsburg rushed 5-0 in 14 minutes and shone to great effect. Spencer Machacek (22nd), Tyler Morley (30th), Laurin Braun (32nd) and Jean-Christophe Beaudin (35th) were successful. The goal was particularly good for Laurin Braun, as the winger played his 600th DEL match on Sunday.
Only in the last third, when the game was long over, did Bietigheim rebel again. With a hefty pound, Teemu Lepaus scored the consolation goal 1: 5 (53rd). The mood was high in the stands when Steelers newcomer Joshua Atkinson and Darren Archibald got into a fight. It fit the picture: here too the grizzly pro was the point winner. Fabio Pfohl put an end to the sports match, which also completed half of Wolfsburg’s dozen on power play (57th).
Meeting with Breitkreuz, Ranford and Wenzel
The Bietigheim Steelers continue their away trilogy on Tuesday (7:30 pm). Then the DEL taillight occurs at the Löwen in Frankfurt. In the last match before the German Cup break, SCB will play third-placed ERC Ingolstadt on Thursday (19:30). The newcomer from Frankfurt is doing very well and is sixth with 24 points in 15 games and an average of 1.6 points. On Sunday evening, however, Assia lost their home duel to Schwenningen 2: 3 after extra time, despite their overwhelming superiority. On Tuesday evening, there will be a meeting with former Steelers pros Brett Breitkreuz, Yannick Wenzel and Brendan Ranford.
