Biedronka will reduce product prices due to lower VAT

Biedronka has decided to reduce the prices of products that will be subject to lower VAT from 1 July. It’s about some types of fruit, sweets or spices. This is another network of after Lidl or Kaufland, which made such a decision.

  • The new VAT rates will apply from July 1
  • Rates change, among others for some fruits and spices
  • Many retail chains have already announced price reductions in this regard

Biedronka lowers prices due to changes in VAT rates

The fact that VAT rates on certain goods are changing has been known for several months. Some retail chains, such as Kaufland, already announced price cuts. As we described, Lidl, Aldi and Tesco are also planning to reduce prices along with decreasing VAT. However, on June 24 it was not yet clear whether Biedronka would decide to make such a move.

Now the network has announced that it will leave prices from 30 June – new VAT rates apply from July 1. The network estimates that in this way, compared to the prices from the beginning of June, about PLN 300 million per year will remain in the clients’ portfolios. The discounts will apply not only to food – including exotic fruits, e.g. bananas – but also to some items for children and babies.
