Biden wins South Carolina primary giving air to his campaign for the Super Tuesday | News Univision Elections in the USA 2020

Former United States Vice President Joe Biden won the South Carolina primary on Saturday, giving his campaign a necessary boost after his lazy start in Iowa and New Hampshire.

With his first victory after another three days since the cycle of Democratic primaries started last month, Biden hopes with this victory to keep alive his options to reach the White House in November.

Biden’s goal will now be to consolidate itself as the main option in the face of the advance of Senator Bernie Sanders, head of the most liberal wing of the party and who reached the contest on Saturday with the most accumulated delegates.

“Thank you, South Carolina! To all those who have been shot down, defeated and forgotten, this is your campaign! Together we will win the nomination and defeat Donald Trump,” the Democratic candidate wrote a message on his Twitter account.

South Carolina was a prelude for March 8 the eight Democratic candidates to compete 1,357 delegates.

The election day known as Super Tuesday and planned in 14 states could be decisive for an applicant to gather the 1,991 delegates needed to obtain the nomination of the Democratic Party.
