Biden wins primaries in Florida, Illinois and Arizona

Washington Former US Vice President Joe Biden is predicted to win the important Florida area code in the race for the Democrats’ presidential nomination. He outperformed his competitor, left-wing Senator Bernie Sanders, with a clear lead, as ABC, Fox News and CNN television stations reported on Tuesday evening (local time). Before the Florida vote, Biden had previously won primaries in 16 other states.

Biden is forecast to win another victory in Illionis. Fox News, CNN and NBC TV stations declared the moderate politician the winner on Tuesday evening (local time). NBC, Fox News, CNN and ABC also predicted a win for Biden in the third state of Arizona.

Biden had led the way in surveys in all three states. If he wins there all over, the pressure on Sanders to get out of the race should increase.

The primaries pave the way for the Democrats’ nomination convention in the summer, when the party’s presidential candidate is ultimately chosen. In Florida, Illinois and Arizona, there are 441 votes from delegates for this party convention, which corresponds to around 11 percent of all regular party delegates. 219 delegate votes are given in Florida alone, 155 in Illinois, 67 in Arizona.

Actually, voting should also take place in Ohio on Tuesday. However, due to the spread of the corona virus, the health authority had briefly ordered to keep the polling stations closed.
