Biden visits the Mexican border for the first time as president

President Biden is making his first trip to the southern border as president today.

Biden travels to El Paso, Texas, and then to Mexico City to meet with leaders of that country and Canada, to discuss immigration issues.

While in El Paso, you will meet with local officials to discuss border security issues.

El Paso began experiencing record levels of migrant arrivals a few weeks ago due to anxiety over a possible end to Title 42 immigration policy.

This has forced thousands of migrants to turn themselves in to border authorities or enter the United States illegally.

Meanwhile, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announces that he will stop busing immigrants in our city and in Chicago.as both cities continue to experience an influx of immigrant arrivals.

According to a press release from the governor’s office, the last busload of migrants will arrive today.

Polis says its decision comes after discussions with Mayor Adams and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

The joint letter reads in part, “Mayors Lightfoot and Adams, along with Governor Polis, agreed that the federal government should step in and help cities and states with the crisis.”

As of January 4, nearly 36,000 asylum seekers have entered New York’s emergency reception system.
