Biden to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister

According to White House spokesman Jen Psaki, the visit will highlight the strategic partnership between the two countries and promote bilateral cooperation in line with the 2008 agreement regulating the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

Psaki listed areas of common interest for both countries. These are energy, health, security issues, including joint efforts to ensure the final defeat of a group of Islamic State militants.

However, she did not mention whether the parties would discuss Iran and its support of Shiite militants in attacks on military installations in Iraq where US forces are stationed.
