Biden to attend Warsaw meeting with two Ukrainian ministers

US President Joe Biden will attend a meeting in Warsaw on Saturday morning between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and their Ukrainian counterparts, the White House announced.

“This morning, President Biden will make an appearance at the meeting between Secretaries Blinken and Austin and Ukrainian Ministers of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba and Ministers of Defense Oleksii Reznikov,” the White House said in an email, on the second day of the visit of the Chief Executive of the United States to Poland.

This is President Biden’s first meeting with senior Ukrainian officials since the Russian aggression began on February 24.

Arrived Friday in Poland at the end of a series of international meetings in Brussels, Mr. Biden must deliver a speech at the end of the afternoon at the royal castle in Warsaw.

Meeting with American soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in southeastern Poland the day before, he praised the courage of the Ukrainian people, who he said recalled the events in Tiananmen Square in 1989, and repeated that, in his view, the Russian President Vladimir Putin was a “war criminal”.

“You are at the center of a battle between democracies and autocrats,” Joe Biden told the military. “What you do matters, really matters.”
