Biden says he has no faith in a peaceful transition of power if Trump loses the election, recalling his comments about a “bloodbath”

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that does not trust in a peaceful transfer of power in the country if Republican Donald Trump loses the November 5 election.

“If Trump loses, I have no confidence at all”Biden said in an interview with CBS News when asked if he thought there would be a peaceful transfer of power after the vote.

“He means what he says. We don’t take him seriously. He means what he says.” All that talk about if we lose there would be a bloodbath”Biden added.

During a campaign appearance in March in Ohio, Trump warned of a “bloodbath” if he did not win the election. At the time he was talking about the need to protect the American auto industry from foreign competition, and later clarified that he was referring specifically to that when he used the term.

Trump has stated falsely claiming to have won the 2020 election against Biden and was criminally charged in Washington DC and Georgia with illegally attempting to overturn the results.

Biden left the campaign last month after Democrats called on him to step aside following a poor performance in the debate against Trump which raised questions about the president’s age and health.

Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris has since managed to the Democratic nomination and will face Trump.
