President United States of America Joe Biden he stressed that US troops would defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion, while the White House said Washington’s policy on Taiwan hasn’t changed.
Reported by the news agency AFPMonday (9/19/2022), when asked about CBS’s “60 Minutes” program if US troops would defend TaiwanBiden said “yes” if it was an “unprecedented attack”.
This is not the first time that Biden has suggested that US troops will take part in the war between them China and Taiwan, with the White House later appearing to retract its comments.

At that moment, last May, during a visit to Japan, Biden was also asked if he would deploy American troops for such a situation and he once again replied “yes”.
“This is the commitment we have made,” he said.
Washington broke off formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979 he transferred the recognition to Beijing as sole representative China. But at the same time, the United States retains its role in supporting Taiwan.
Under the laws passed by Congress, United States of America required to sell military equipment to Taiwan to ensure self-defense against Beijing’s much larger armed forces.
But Washington has maintained what it officially calls “strategic ambiguity” about whether it will intervene militarily.
