Biden Regrets US Supply of Bombs to Israel in Attack on Gaza, Civilians Killed

The President expressed regret United States of America (US) Joe Biden related to the supply of bombs from Washington for military use Israel in an attack that killed many civilians Palestine in the war entering Gaza Strip the last months.

As reported Reuters and Al ArabiyaThursday (9/5/2024), Biden in an interview with CNNon Wednesday (8/5) local time, he expressed his acknowledgment and regret that civilians were killed as a result of the dropping of US-supplied bombs by Israel in the Palestinian territories.

Biden’s confession and remorse came after the US stopped sending bomb materials to Israel last week, because it was concerned that its stockpile of bombs would be used to attack it Rafah, which shelters more than a million Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip.

“Civilians are being killed in Gaza because of these bombs and other methods they (southern Israel) use to attack population centers,” Biden said when asked about the US supply of 2,000 bombs pound to Israel.

“That’s wrong,” he said.

The US government, at local time on Tuesday (7/5), confirmed media reports that Washington had stopped the delivery of heavy bomb supplies, which they feared would be used by Israel in a major ground operation in Rafah, which is shelter for Palestinian refugees.

A senior official in the US government, as reported AFPconfirmed that Washington had, as of last week, halted the delivery of 1,800 2,000-pound (907 kg) bombs and 1,700 500-pound (226 kg) bombs after Israel believed they were not has “fully addressed” US concerns about plans for a major ground operation to Rafah.
