US President Joe Biden met with Alexei Navalny’s wife Yulia and their older daughter Daria in San Francisco. The President of the United States expressed his condolences on the death of the Russian opposition figure and journalist.
According to the Russian authorities’ death certificate, the opposition leader died of “natural causes”. However, the entire democratic world expressed its fears that Navalny was killed on the orders of the Kremlin.
President Joe Biden met with Alexei Navalny’s wife and daughter on Thursday “to express his heartfelt condolences.”
Biden expressed his admiration for Navalny’s “extraordinary courage and his legacy in the fight against corruption and for a free and democratic Russia in which the rule of law applies equally to all.” Biden also confirmed the impending new US sanctions against Russia over Navalny’s death.
The meeting comes days after Navalny announced that she would continue her husband’s case.
Yesterday, Alexey’s mother, Lyudmila, was allowed to see her son’s body in the morgue.
She reported that the authorities blackmailed her and forced her to bury her son secretly without other people.
“They want to take me to the end of the cemetery to a fresh grave and tell me – this is where your son rests.”
I cannot accept this, the mother said in an emotional video statement.
