William Burns, 64, the director of the CIA, argued that responding to China’s “hostile and predatory” leadership on the 24th (local time) is the key to US national security.

According to Reuters, Nominee Burns attended the Senate Information Committee’s approval hearing on the same day, saying that he will make △human resources, △partnerships, △China, and △technology a top priority in the future.

Nominee Burns pointed out that China is strengthening its ability to steal intellectual property rights, oppressing its own people, and expanding its influence in the United States.

“The hostile and predatory Chinese leadership is becoming our greatest geopolitical test,” he said, defining China as a “processable and authoritarian enemy.”

Nominee Burns also pointed to North Korea as a’familiar threat’ that continues to this day along with Russia and Iran.

As new challenges, he cited climate change, the global health crisis, and cyber threats.

Burns’ approval proposal is expected to pass easily. He is a former diplomat and has served as the ambassador to the main Ledan and the Russian ambassador to Russia, and has passed the Senate approval five times.
