NEW YORK – President Joe Biden is gearing up for his first late-night television appearance since taking office.
Biden is scheduled to appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” this Friday with comedian Jimmy Fallon. Biden will appear virtually; the White House did not say where he will be when the segment is filmed.
Biden has made two previous appearances on the show. He joked with Fallon in April 2020, a week before he became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and in September 2016, towards the end of his eight years as vice president.
Biden is suffering a sharp drop in polls and has been under pressure to interact more with the media.
He has been trying to improve his standing with the public by traveling across the country to promote a $ 1 trillion infrastructure law, money that will be used to repair roads and bridges and establish high-speed Internet throughout the country.
The president has also been trying to gain public support for a social welfare and climate bill separated that has stalled in the Senate.
