The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is left out of a call again between the president of the United States, Joe Biden, and his European partners.
On this occasion, Biden plans to hold a conference call this Monday with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron; German Chancellor Olaf Scholz; the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi; and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson.
The call is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Washington (4 p.m. in Spain) to discuss their coordinated responses to Russian aggression.
It is not the first time that Biden leaves Sánchez out of contacts at the highest level. At the end of January, Sánchez was not invited to a telematic meeting in which the leaders of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, as well as the European Union and NATO participated. In February, a few days before the invasion, Biden held a similar meeting, with the same guests, in addition to Romania, a NATO country that borders Ukraine.
Joe Biden will visit Poland on March 25 after participating in Brussels in the NATO, European Union and G7 summits on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki has ruled out that Biden has any plans to visit Ukraine during his trip to Europe.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24 after weeks of tension on the border due to the accumulation of Russian troops, has caused the flight of three million refugees and the death of at least 900 civiliansaccording to the UN.
