US government and Democrats press for $1.9 trillion stimulus bill
[아시아경제 뉴욕=백종민 특파원] U.S. President Joe Biden urged the prompt treatment of a $1.9 trillion worth of new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) economic stimulus plan. As the employment indicators released on the day confirmed the sluggish US employment situation, it is argued that the economy should recover quickly by releasing money.

President Biden spoke at the White House after meeting with Democratic House Representatives, including Chairman Nancy Pelosi Hower, on the 5th (local time), saying, “I want to be with Republican support, but they are not going as far as we think we should go. “He said.
“If I had to choose between helping a badly damaged American right now or compromising a bill in a long bargaining or crisis, I would help the affected Americans now.”
President Biden met with reporters earlier, recalling that the number of jobs in the private sector in January was only increased by 6,000, and said, “At this rate, it will take 10 years to reach full employment. No exaggeration.”
According to the employment trend released by the Ministry of Labor, the number of jobs in the United States increased by 49,000 in January, less than the expected 50,000.
In response to President Biden’s speech that day, The Hill assessed that it was the strongest signal to use the parliamentary majority to process the budget without Republicans’ cooperation.
Despite Republican opposition, procedural preparations to deal with the economic stimulus bill with the Democratic Party’s approval are over.
On this day, after 15 hours of debate, the Senate passed a resolution that could process the budget with a majority vote at 5:30 am. In the same situation, the Democratic and Republican seats were 50-50, and the process was ended after Vice President Camela Harris entered the Senate for a vote.
The Democratic Party voted 219 in favor and 209 against a resolution for expediting the budget bill in the House of Representatives this afternoon. In the Democratic Party, Congressman Jared Golden was the only one to express opposition.
After meeting with the White House, Pelosi told reporters that he would have a budget bill enacted by March 15th. In a letter to fellow lawmakers prior to the vote, Pelosi stressed, “It is most urgent and important to defeat the coronavirus and deliver aid to Americans.” Chairman Pelosi also stated that he would come up with an additional stimulus plan if the budget is processed.
On the other hand, the Republican Party passed the Corona 19 stimulus plan, which was close to $4 trillion last year, and is opposing it, saying that if a large budget is mobilized again, it is concerned about an increase in debt. Some Republican lawmakers have offered a $600 billion stimulus plan as a compromise, but President Biden and the Democrats have made clear their will.
