US President Joe Biden expressed “deep concern” about the migrant crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border on Friday, adding that he had communicated it to Russia and Belarus.
“There is great concern about that,” Biden said. “We have told Russia about our concerns. (..) We have communicated our concerns to Belarus. “
“It’s a big problem,” Biden said. The crisis on the border escalated on 8 November, when several thousand migrants from the Middle East settled on the Belarusian side in preparation for crossing the border illegally into the European Union. Polish officials called what was happening the most difficult moment since the crisis began.
The US and six European delegations to the UN Security Council on Thursday condemned Belarus’ actions in the migrant crisis on its border with Poland and said they were ready to discuss new measures against Belarus because of the situation.
