Tehran: Iran has expressed its displeasure with US President Joe Biden for interfering in the country’s internal affairs on the hijab issue. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said the US administration is trying to incite unrest in the country.
US President Joe Biden recently announced his support for anti-hijab protests nationwide. This angered Iran.
Biden had expressed his support for the anti-government protests underway in the country to protest the death of Mehsa Amini, killed in police custody on September 16. Biden said he was amazed by the courage of the people who protested.
The country is experiencing the biggest protests since the 1979 revolution. Some are clamoring for the life of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
