With clear indications of the future of the conflict in Ukraine but without any certainty either on the battlefields or at the diplomatic-geopolitical level, Kiev is preparing to face the fate in store for the changes brought to the balance in the Russian-Ukrainian war by its election Donald Trump in the presidency of the USA, the announcements about the composition of the new pending administration, but also the promotions of the Russian troops.
According to what Trump himself has said before the election and what Republican officials have said after the election, the approach of the new administration to the issue of the war in Ukraine, when it takes over, will be to reach a peace agreement as quickly as possible, but without to include in it what will happen to the occupied Ukrainian territories, including of course Crimea.
All the help
That is why the outgoing Biden administration, according to what was announced during the week, is preparing to release all aid (financial and in equipment) for 2025 by the end of the year, that is, before Trump takes office. The aim is supposed to ensure that Kiev will have the supplies to last another year, but also in the event of negotiations to be able to have a strong bargaining chip. The possibility of a peace agreement that would ensure Russian gains has caused serious turmoil in NATO and in Europe.
In the meantime, with public statements, the officials of the Zelenskyi government and the Russian leadership appear ready to participate in a peace process in case there is an initiative from the US side. Of course the two sides have completely different views on the context of the debate. Ukraine insists it will not discuss a deal that includes losing territory, while Russia believes any discussion should take into account not only the gains it already has but also ongoing troop advances.
Are they calling for elections?
In this context, the information that the USA is putting pressure on Ukraine to go to elections immediately, something that Volodymyr Zelensky himself has ruled out but may not be able to avoid, has caused a particular sensation.
Recently, as Ukraine’s defense capabilities have been reduced due to equipment shortages seen due to delays in deliveries from the West, Russian forces have been continuously advancing in the east, preparing an attack in the south (Zaporizia) and with the help of North Korean soldiers as well – officially confirmed to be involved – are striking back at Kursk.

In what ways could a potential peace deal between the US and Russia reshape the long-standing conflict in Ukraine, and what challenges might arise from such negotiations?
As a website editor for world-today-news.com, I would conduct an interview with two guests on the topic of the potential deal between the US and Russia that could secure Russian profits in Ukraine. The guests would be a Ukrainian diplomat and a Russian political analyst to provide diverse perspectives on the issue.
Interview with Ukrainian Diplomat:
1. What are your thoughts on the potential deal between the US and Russia that could secure Russian profits in Ukraine? Do you think this deal undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity?
2. How does the current timing of this deal (before Trump takes office) impact the stability of Ukraine’s government and its ability to negotiate on its own terms?
3. How prepared is Ukraine to face the ongoing Russian aggression without further financial aid and military support from the West?
4. Are there any alternative peace initiatives that Ukraine would be willing to pursue, and if so, what are they?
5. How important is it for Ukraine to maintain its relationship with NATO and Europe amidst these tensions with Russia?
Interview with Russian Political Analyst:
1. From Russia’s perspective, what are the benefits of securing its profits in Ukraine through a potential peace deal?
2. How likely is it that such a deal would be accepted by the incoming Biden administration, given its stated position on the importance of restoring Ukrainian sovereignty?
3. Do you think that Russia’s involvement in the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine has been primarily driven by economic interests, or are there geopolitical factors at play as well?
4. What role do you see North Korean soldiers playing in the conflict, and why has their involvement been confirmed now?
5. How do you foresee the future of Russia’s relationship with the West, specifically the US and Europe, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin?
