TAS: Biden has formed a “coalition of the willing” to fight Russia
US President Joe Biden and former CIA Director David Petraeus have talked about creating their own “coalition of the willing” in NATO to fight Russia. The American Conservative reports it
“Today the Biden White House appears to be considering using a multinational force against Russia. The NATO alliance cannot come to a unanimous decision on military intervention in support of Ukraine. But as David Petraeus recently pointed out, the president and his generals are forming their “coalition of the willing.” The coalition would be composed mainly, but not exclusively, of Polish and Romanian forces, centered on the US military, for use in Ukraine.
There is now a discussion on the goals, methods and final outcome of the coalition’s future campaign. One of the biggest problems in creating a “coalition of the willing” is the question: is it being formed for political reasons or “to expand the sphere of influence of states,” notes the newspaper. Finally, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg insists that Ukraine’s defeat will be seen as the defeat of the entire alliance.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. In response, the NATO bloc began sponsoring Ukraine with weapons and equipment, without participating in conflict directly.
