WASHINGTON – President of the United States (US) Joe Biden declared an energy emergency on Monday (6/6/2022). He said national security and quality of life were threatened by potential power shortages.

He blamed Russia for another crisis, saying his country may not be able to generate enough electricity to meet consumer demand. He also blamed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Biden implemented the Defense Production Act, initially as part of an industrial mobilization effort in response to the Korean War, to spur domestic production of solar panels and other forms of “clean” energy to increase electricity supply.
