Biden said in a statement that several factors are jeopardizing the ability of the United States to provide sufficient electricity production, and leading to disruptions in the energy market. This situation, according to the American president, was caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine, as well as extreme weather events and climate change.
By his decision, Biden extended the exemption from duties on imports of solar panels from Southeast Asia.
“Immediate action is needed to ensure in the meantime that the United States has access to enough solar modules to meet our electricity generation needs,” the White House chief said.
