The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has expressed his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in June. The talks could ease tensions caused by the Kremlin’s interference in US domestic politics and opposition to opposition leader Alexei Navalny, as well as the situation in eastern Ukraine.
Biden said the meeting could take place during a visit to Europe. He plans to attend the G7 summit in Britain in June, before going to NATO and the European Union and US summits in Brussels, Belgium.
Biden told reporters at the White House that he hoped to meet with a Russian counterpart and was currently working on it.
Meanwhile, representatives of Austria and Finland have already expressed their readiness to hold talks. Journalists, citing anonymous US officials, said the summit could be held in the Czech capital, Prague. It could also be held in Iceland, Slovenia or Azerbaijan.
