Frontier Airlines announced on Saturday that the company’s flight was hijacked from Florida to Atlanta after a passenger was found to be in possession of a sharp tool used to open boxes (cutters).
“Atlanta law enforcement has arrested the passenger in question,” a Frontier spokesperson said in a statement.
No one was injured in the crash and the airline offered passengers a new flight Saturday morning to Tampa, Florida.
One female passenger told NBC News that when the suspect went to the bathroom, the person sitting next to him informed her the suspect had a knife and was “threatening to stab people.”
He added: I went next and notified the flight attendants at the front of the plane.
He pointed this out and ended up telling me they were going to land the plane right away and we’d be off in 20 minutes.
The airline did not immediately respond to a request for comment that the suspect had threatened to stab others on board.
