US President Joe Biden called on the international community to help manage security in the Gaza Strip during the transition period after the war and stressed that the Palestinian people deserve their own state.

Literally: “As we strive for peace, Gaza and the West Bank must be united under a single governance structure, ultimately a renewed Palestinian Authority, as we all work towards a two-state solution.
I have stressed to Israeli leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and those who commit violence must be held accountable. The United States is poised to take its own steps, including banning visas for extremists who attack civilians in the West Bank.
The international community must commit resources to support the people of Gaza in the immediate aftermath of this crisis, including temporary security measures, and establish a recovery mechanism to sustainably address Gaza’s long-term needs. And it is imperative that no terrorist threats ever come from Gaza or the West Bank again.”
More details: Biden stressed that “the Palestinian people deserve their own state and a future free from Hamas.”
He noted that it also pains him to look at the images from Gaza and the deaths of many thousands of civilians, including children.
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will retain overall responsibility for security in Gaza for an indefinite period and will not transfer it to “international forces.” He also practically rejected the possibility of returning the Palestinian Authority to Gaza, writes The Times of Israel.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also rejected Biden’s proposal, saying at the Manama 2023 Dialogue that “no Arab troops” would be stationed in Gaza after the war as Amman’s ties with Jerusalem would further deteriorate.
