“The submarine is now ready to receive further adjustments before heading for testing and eventually joining the country’s navy,” the Russian defense ministry said in a statement.
The vessel is the third submarine of the diesel-electric family of the 677 Lada project. This type of submarine is capable of autonomous deployment for up to 45 days, submerged to a depth of 300 meters and has a speed of 21 knots (nearly 39 km/h) while submerged.
This type of submarine is said to be extremely stealthy due to low noise emissions and special hull coating. Furthermore, these ships were very agile, with large multi-bladed propellers.
