Donald Trump and Joe Biden didn’t have a big televised debate last night, but fought it out on American television at the same time. The presidential candidates each had a live broadcast of Question Time with voters. In terms of ratings, Biden won the television appearance.
It should have been the second big debate between the two last night, but that fell through. Because of Trump’s corona contamination, the debate would be conducted virtually, but that saw the president not sitting. That is why both camps organized separately from each other, but at exactly the same time a so-called Town Hall, eand meeting with voters somewhere in the country.
Biden attracted an average of 13.9 million viewers with his television appearance on ABC. Trump averaged 13 million viewers on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC combined, Nielsen calculated. The organization only tracks live TV viewers. The growing number of people watching via streaming services or online has not been included.
In the broadcast, Biden lashed out at Trump’s performance in the fight against the corona virus. Trump just defended his actions. He condemned white racists, but refused conspiracy thinkers from QAnon to condemn. That brought him criticism in the American media.
