Biden announces names for key positions, John Kerry envoy for climate

Antony Blinken (58), the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, was previously Deputy Minister in the same department as well as a security adviser. US media expects him to take the lead in mending foreign relations that have been damaged under the Trump administration.

Alejandro Mayorkas, soon to be responsible for Homeland Security, was born in Cuba. He is a lawyer and served as an assistant secretary in the same ministry under Obama. That ministry is responsible, among other things, for immigration policy.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, 68, was previously an ambassador to Liberia and a top State Department official during Obama’s time, Avril Haines, 51, is a former deputy director of the CIA.

Jake Sullivan, 43, was an adviser to then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton under Obama and national security adviser to Biden, then vice president.

January 20th

Biden will almost certainly be sworn in on January 20. President Trump has not yet admitted his defeat in the election earlier this month, because he says fraud has taken place.

Judges in several states have dismissed that complaint because Trump’s lawyers have been unable to provide evidence.
