Biden and Putin call again tomorrow about Ukraine

US President Biden and Russian President Putin will meet again tomorrow. That is happening at Putin’s request, White House spokesmen say.

The call will be about the tense situation in Ukraine. Russian troops on the border with Ukraine grew to about 100,000 in recent weeks. The US and other NATO countries fear that Moscow plans to invade Ukraine.

Putin believes that NATO is causing the current tensions. He wants guarantees that Ukraine and other former Soviet countries don’t become a member of NATO. He also wants no more offensive missile installations to be delivered to Ukraine.

Diplomatic way

Biden will emphasize “there is a diplomatic path” that Putin can take to temper tensions, according to White House officials.

Putin and Biden also met on December 7, via a video link. Earlier this week it was announced that a meeting between diplomats from Russia and the US will take place on January 10.
