Several of the prisoners exchanged with Russia are now in the US.
The plane carrying them landed at Andrews Air Force Base, near Washington, and the former prisoners were personally greeted by President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris.

The historic exchange deal with the US and other Western nations brought home WSJ reporters Evan Gershkowitz and RFE/RL Alsou Kurmaseva, as well as former Marine Paul Whelan.
The agreement was concluded after more than a year of negotiations between the US, Germany and three other countries on the one hand and Russia on the other.
