In his address at the White House in Washington, US President Joe Biden threatened retaliation against those behind the cruel attack at Kabul airport. More than 90 people – including at least 12 US soldiers – were killed in a suicide bombing for which a local IS group – the so-called IS-K – took responsibility.
Biden said: “Those who perpetrated this attack, as well as anyone else who wants to harm America, should know this: We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will persecute you and you will have to pay for it.”
According to both, the US has information about where the masterminds of the attacks are. Even without major military operations, the United States would have opportunities to hold those behind it accountable. Wherever they are – “we’ll get you down,” said Biden.
The US President announced that US troops will continue evacuations from Afghanistan. “We still have so much to do. It is in our power to do it. We just have to remain unshakable. Unshakable,” said Biden. “We will do our job and after the troops have withdrawn we will continue to find ways and means to find any American who wants to leave Afghanistan. We will find them and we will get them out.”
