Biden administrator sued by Texas, Missouri over immigration policy

The Biden administration has been sued by Texas and Missouri for its immigration policy which they say is responsible for a surge in illegal immigrants and crime in their states, according to new court documents.

The lawsuit, filed in Texas federal court on Tuesday, disputes that the Biden administration removed the Trump administration’s migrant protection protocols who were holding potential immigrants in Mexico while their asylum claims were pending in the United States, Drumpe reported.

The current administration’s policy of shutting down the MPP – or the “Stay in Mexico” program – on the first day President Joe Biden took office was “arbitrary and capricious” and prompted thousands of children to come. at the border with “unfounded asylum requests. », Alleges the continuation.

“The MPP has been instrumental in resolving” the immigration border crisis and it has also “discouraged” foreigners from attempting illegal entry or making unfounded asylum claims in the hope of stay in the United States, ”according to court documents.

But since its flashback, Texas has incurred costs “as organized crime and drug cartels prey on migrant communities and children through human trafficking, violence, extortion, sexual assault and exploitation, ”court documents say.

This affects local Texas communities and also adds costs to taxpayers as they must provide housing, education, health care and other social services to immigrants and trafficked persons, the lawsuit adds.

Missouri is also affected and forced to spend significant resources following the dismantling of the MPP which combats human trafficking, as it is “a state of destination and transit for many human traffickers”, according to court documents.

“Indeed, irresponsible border security policies that invite and encourage human traffickers to exploit vulnerable victims crossing the border irreparably injure Missouri and other states,” the lawsuit said.

In addition, the political decision “threatens to harm the bilateral relationship between the United States and Mexico,” according to court documents.

States are asking a judge to set aside the January 20 order that suspended the member.

“President Biden could immediately remedy the influx of crime crossing our border by reinstating migrant protection protocols,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement.

“Dangerous criminals profit from the abandonment of law enforcement and it results in human trafficking, smuggling, a plethora of violent crime and a huge and unprecedented burden on state and federal programs for which taxpayers have to foot the bill, ”Paxton said.

“We can no longer allow this anarchy to destroy our communities. President Biden must act. “

A White House spokesman said Biden believed the humanitarian crisis in northern Mexico – including migrants staying in camps with poor living conditions – was caused by the MPP and was the reason he repealed the policy.

The DOJ did not immediately return a request for comment.
