Biden Administration Trade Advisory on South Sudan: Urging Due Diligence on Corruption and Human Rights Abuses

The Biden administration issued a trade advisory on South Sudan on Monday, urging U.S. businesses and citizens in the region to exercise “due diligence” on corruption and human rights abuses, according to a State Department statement.

“This advisory highlights the growing legal, financial and reputational risks for U.S. companies and Americans who do business or transact with companies that have significant ties to the expanded transitional government of South Sudan or are controlled by family members of government officials,” the State Department said in its statement.
