At the beginning of July, there was a major insolvency in the Carinthian e-mobility sector: bankruptcy proceedings were opened at the Klagenfurt Regional Court against EnerCharge GmbH, founded in 2018 in Kötschach-Mauthen. EnerCharge’s debts amount to 15.17 million euros. 3.22 of these are (subordinate) liabilities from shareholder loans. 97 employees – around half of whom are salaried employees and half of whom are blue-collar workers – and around 125 creditors are affected by the insolvency.
Innovative charging technology solutions for electric cars with charging speeds of up to 500 KW from the Gailtal in Carinthia, manufactured in Oberlienz in East Tyrol: EnerCharge has expanded with this “recipe” in recent years. But the market, which had previously been booming, came to a complete halt and expected sales failed to materialize, which led to insolvency.
Interested parties from home and abroad
The appointed insolvency administrator, the Klagenfurt lawyer Klaus Haslinglehner, is working with the management team of EnerCharge GmbH to preserve as many jobs as possible in addition to the company and its locations. A bidding process and information talks with interested companies from Germany and abroad are currently underway. “After an initial review of the numerous offers, the chances of the company’s continued existence are very good,” says Haslinglehner. Those interested would recognize the innovative strength of the team behind EnerCharge and the high quality of the products.
50 jobs saved
A decision is expected by mid-September. Until a new investor comes on board, only a limited amount of new material can be procured. Since the order situation in the various product lines varies greatly, parts of the production will be closed – at least temporarily. 50 jobs were saved. Haslinglehner sees good chances of rehiring the other 47 as soon as demand picks up again.
