Bicycle Loan Service of León City Council Experiences Surge in Users

The bicycle loan service of the León City Council increased in terms of the number of users of this service. So far this year, up to the month of June, a total of 46,303 rentals were registered. In addition, during the month of June the number of loans rose to 9,470, compared to 5,723 in the same period of 2022, which means 3,747 more rentals during the month.

The bicycle is a service that more and more citizens choose to use in their day to day. This service, which has been running since April 2022 when the city council promoted it, registered 48,787 rentals last year and so far this year, until June, the number rises to 46,303, which means more than 95,000 loans since its entry working.

As for subscriptions, there are already 1,116 registered residents who enjoy an annual subscription that allows them to use bicycles for 12 euros. At this moment, the city has 248 anchorages distributed in 27 bicycle collection points throughout the city.

Likewise, to enjoy the bicycle loan service, the León City Council makes different types of subscriptions available to citizens according to the needs of the users. In addition to the annual subscription of 12 euros for those registered, there is another of 40 euros for those who are not. Likewise, they have other types of subscription such as the monthly, which amounts to 19 euros, the weekly that costs 7 euros or the punctual one whose amount is 3.90 euros.

Renting a bike in the city of León is a mode of transport widely used in the daily life of the people of Leon, and it is also a suitable option for tourists who travel with it to the main tourist attractions of León enjoying a ride on two wheels. In addition, more and more citizens are opting for this means of transport.

This urban mobility initiative is included among the actions carried out under the León Norte Integrated and Sustainable Urban Development Strategy Plan to promote the sustainable development of the city and the use of alternative transport in order to reduce the emission of polluting gases.
