A delivery driver from the company “Wolt” apparently intentionally injured several people on Sunday afternoon in Berlin-Friedrichshain. At around 4:30 p.m., the Berlin police were called to Simon-Dach-Strasse after the food delivery man had cycled into a family of four.
Witnesses report to the Tagesspiegel that the cyclist was on the narrow sidewalk of Simon-Dach-Strasse in the direction of Grünberger Strasse when he drove into the mother with her child from behind in a narrow passage under scaffolding. When the father of the family then confronted the man, he is said to have immediately attacked the father and attacked him with several punches and spat on him.
Bystanders were also by the “Wolt” driver threatened. Apparently, the father of the family was only able to tear himself away from the courier driver, who is said to have pressed him against the facade of a residential building.
According to information from the Tagesspiegel, the father of the family is a police officer who was traveling privately with his family. Witnesses alerted the police, who briefly took the cyclist into custody. Now the officers are investigating because of mutual bodily harm.
The woman and one of the children were slightly injured in the incident. After an identity check, the courier driver was released.

Shortly thereafter, the driver of the food supplier in the immediate vicinity again attracted attention. On a sidewalk at the Stralauer Straße/Warschauer Straße intersection, the delivery service driver is said to have driven his bike a second time, apparently intentionally on the sidewalk, into a group of people, according to the police. A mother and her baby were slightly injured.
The man resisted when he was arrested again by police officers. A blood sample was taken from the courier driver while he was in police custody.
The delivery service “Wolt” announced an investigation into the incident when asked by the Tagesspiegel. Until the events are processed, the corresponding courier was suspended from the service.
“The incident described weighs heavily and saddens us very much,” said a company spokesman, adding that the authorities would be “fully supported” in investigating the situation. Violence will not be tolerated in any form, the statement said.
