After the sprint gold on Friday, Julia Simon took the lead at the start of the chase.
When all was said and done, she finished the first week of the WC with another WC gold – her third in Nove Mesto.
She does that largely thanks to her shooting.
She had a miss in the second prone shooting but in the standing one she was completely superior. Her first standing streak was 17.7 seconds, over two seconds ahead of the next best skater. And her 21.5 seconds in the final standing shot was also the fastest of all.
SVT Sports expert Kalle Grenemark is impressed to say the least.
– She shoots so fast while standing, it won’t work. You just sit here and shiver, he says.
Julia Simon tells us that she is living her dream and when she stands on the shooting range, that’s what she thinks about.
– Right before the shooting, I tell myself that I’m living my dream, I’m doing what I’ve been training for all these years and now I’m here. I do what I love most. I don’t think much, she says.
