Biathlon profile in ugly cycling accident: – Was lucky – VG

INJURY IN CASE: Karoline Knotten has had a cut on her face, a blue eye and has been beaten. Now she has to stay calm for a few days.

Biathlete Karoline Knotten (27) remembers very little after being in a bicycle accident this weekend.

Published:

It was Saturday that the accident was out. Knotten was on a training trip with Lotte Lie. At the bridge at Tretten things went wrong, and Knotten plunged over the handlebars.

– I do not remember much before I sat by the roadside, Knotten says to VG.

Training buddy Lie has said that it was probably loose gravel that felled the 27-year-old.

She has been told by doctors to stay calm for a few days.

– I have been lucky, after all. I got rid of some abrasions. I have a sore face and got a pressure in the eye, but otherwise it has gone well. The doctors were a little worried about their brain and head since I could not account for a few minutes in connection with the accident.

In retrospect, she’s glad she used a bicycle helmet.

– I was very happy that I had it. I got a cut in the head from the pressure from the helmet, but think it would have gone far worse without it.

Warned the national team colleagues

– In the pictures, it looks like you have gone 10 rounds in the boxing ring?

– Yes, I have sent a warning to the other national team girls. We’re going to market days in Oslo this week, and it looks like I’ve been in a fight.

Knotten does not know if there will be a trip from Lillehammer to Oslo in connection with the biathlon association’s meeting.

IN PLACE: Karoline Knotten was on the podium once in the World Cup individually this season with her 3rd place in the sprint in Estonia in March. Here from Holmenkollen.

– I want to go, meet the coaches and the girls again and get a season plan, but I have to talk to the doctor first. Driving can be a strain.

The biathlete has been told to stay calm for a few days.

– There will be no hard efforts at first. I’m going to try to go for a walk today.

– Has the accident put a dent in you?

– I will probably feel it when I get on the bike next time – even though I have fallen before. In any case, I have to repair the bike only after the accident, says Karoline Knotten.
