Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Bank Indonesia (BI) will increase the online payment version of the government credit card limit to above IDR 200 million. Previously, the government’s physical credit card transaction limit was only IDR 200 million.

BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta said that BI would later issue an online payment version of the credit card to accommodate government transactions of more than IDR 200 million per transaction.

The online payment credit card is currently still in the trial phase throughout the first quarter of 2023. After that, he is optimistic that it will soon be introduced as a new government transaction tool.

“Well, next in the first quarter, hopefully we can also test this, hopefully we can launch another online payment government segment credit card,” said Filianingsih during a press conference at BI Head Office, Jakarta, quoted on Saturday (20 /1/2024).

“So this will be even more powerful, later this can be interlinked with the government procurement platform, so this will encourage it to develop further,” he stressed.

According to him, the presence of online payment credit cards is part of the development stages of the Indonesian Credit Card (KKI). Filianingsih said that KKI development consists of three stages.

According to him, the first stage is the government’s KKI QRIS segment which President Joko Widodo will immediately launch in 2022. However, the problem is that the transaction limit is only up to IDR 10 million.

Then, in May 2023, the second phase of KKI development will be carried out through the launch of the physical segment of government credit cards. The problem is still related to the limit for one transaction, which is only IDR 200 million.

So, currently the launch of the online payment government credit card is the third stage of KKI development to respond to the limitations of physical credit card transactions.

“Well, how does this meet this obstacle? Overcoming this obstacle with a physical card can make transactions of up to IDR 200 million,” stressed Filianingsih.
