BI Signs Interbank Transfer Fees via BI Fast Can Be Lowered from IDR 2,500

BADUNG, KOMPAS.com – Bank Indonesia (BI) hints at lowering interbank transfer fees via BI Fast.

Assistant Governor of the Head of the Payment System Policy Department of Bank Indonesia Filianingsih Hendarta said, currently interbank transfer fees via BI Fast IDR 2,500 per transaction and is expected to fall below that again.

“Currently, the BI Fast interbank transfer fee is Rp. 2,500, previously it was Rp. 6,500. But maybe one day it could be below Rp. 2,500,” he said at the G20 Digital Finance to Support Financial Inclusion Side Event in Bali, Saturday (16/7/2022). .

The interbank transfer fee through BI Fast is relatively cheap compared to the interbank transfer fee facilitated by banks which is generally Rp 6,500 per transaction.

Previously, the Association of International Banks (Perbina) hoped that the cost of interbank transfers via BI Fast could drop from Rp 2,500 per transaction to Rp 100.

Chairman of Perbina Batara Sianturi said the reduction in interbank transfer fees through BI Fast was to help the MSME sector to cut transfer costs in running their business.

In addition, the public is also easier because they have more affordable interbank transfer options. This is because the interbank transfer fee charged by banks is around Rp. 6,500 per transaction.

And consumers will benefit more, lower cost. So I want it to go down again to Rp 500 or Rp 100 to help MSMEs,” said Batara at the Digital Financial Economy Festival in Bali, Wednesday (13/7/2022).
