BI Reveals Case of Jumbo Balance Electronic Money burglary

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (WITH A) Destry Damayanti reveals the case conceded a fairly large balance is experienced by one of the digital wallet providers or electronic money in Indonesia.

He conveyed this when he was a speaker in a guest lecture entitled ‘Markets and Financial Institutions’ held by the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, Friday (16/10).

However, he did not mention who the intended payment system service provider (PJSP) was. What is clear, Destry said, the case has been handled by BI and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

“Yesterday, there was a big enough leakage in one of our PJSPs and it has become a concern, it has entered the OJK to BI. This is also the same as someone breaking into using machines,” he said.

Destry said that it is important to see the track record of the e-wallet that will be used if you want to save large enough money. The reason is, the problem of losing money in digital wallets is not something new to happen in Indonesia.

“So, before using it, you have to check first who is the organizer of the e-wallet,” he explained.

Similar precautions according to Destry also need to be applied to banking and financial service providers. Moreover, lately many consumers have become victims of cases of default because they are not careful in placing their money.

This also often happens because people are easily lured by the lure of large returns without taking into account the risk of greater losses.

“So we are still careful. First, check and check. Is the organizer okay or not? Because there is a risk if we don’t want to check and check. Even with a bank there can be risks, if we don’t check the condition is correct. the bank, “he said.
