The results of a survey conducted in both the north and south of the island revealed that support for the bi-communal, bi-zonal federation solution has increased in both communities.

Politis newspaper wrote that a survey was conducted by “Cyprus University Field Studies Center and Psychology Center” on both sides of Cyprus regarding the solution of the Cyprus problem.

The newspaper stated that the survey in question was carried out with the participation of 717 people in the south of Cyprus and 731 people in the north, with the house-to-house method.

According to the news, 42.9 percent of the Greek Cypriots participating in the survey stated that they support the “bi-communal, bi-zonal federation”, while 37.6 percent answered, “I neither oppose nor support it, but if it happens, I can live with it”.

19.5 percent of the participants stated that they do not support the bi-communal, bi-zonal federation.

The newspaper stated that the answers given to this question in 2020 were 38 percent, 38 percent and 24 percent in the same order, and when these results were taken into account, it was observed that the support given by the Greek Cypriots to the bi-communal bi-zonal federation increased compared to previous years.

In the news, it was reported that 61.9 percent of Turkish Cypriots stated that they support the bi-communal, bi-zonal federation solution, while 17.9 percent of the respondents answered, “I neither oppose nor support it, but I can live with it if it happens”, while 20.2 percent reject it. .

In Turkish Cypriots, according to the results of the survey in 2020, the answers were 54.2 percent, 17 percent and 28.8 percent, respectively.

The newspaper emphasized that although the support for the bicommunal bipartite federation solution increased in both communities, the support for the two-state solution was high among the Turkish Cypriots, while the Greek Cypriots were totally against it.

According to the report, “Would you accept the two-state solution?” While 81.3 percent of Greek Cypriots answered “no”, 10.3 percent “I neither oppose nor support it, but I can live with it if it happens” and 8.1 percent “support”, 65 percent of Turkish Cypriots And 0.8 of them replied “I support the two-state solution”.

The newspaper also claimed that the survey revealed that Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots supported the preparation of the Cyprus history books taught in both the north and the south by a committee attended by educators and historians from both communities.

According to the news, 70.2 percent of Greek Cypriots and 82.1 percent of Turkish Cypriots who participated in the survey stated that they would support such a development.

The newspaper also stated that the sources of information between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots about the Cyprus problem are different in the survey.
