Jakarta

BI Checking is a term commonly heard in the process of applying for credit, both vehicle loans and home ownership loans (KPR). People who want to apply for credit will definitely check their credit score or credit history so far.

For information purposes only, BI checking, which is commonly known, is the debtor information system (SID) at Bank Indonesia (BI). However, now actually BI checking is no longer there.

Quoted from the consumer.ojk.go.id page, information regarding the public’s credit records is now in the realm of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), under the name of the Financial Information Service System (SLIK).

SLIK is a record of information on the history of bank debtors and other financial institutions. The information includes smooth credit payments. Simply put, this SLIK contains credit history that has been taken, the function is the same as BI Checking. For example, person A has a mortgage and he is in arrears for 2 months.

So, arrears or non-smooth payments will be recorded in the SLIK. Vice versa, when paying installments smoothly, then the credit information history will be included in the current category.

You could also say that SLIK is a way to find out your credit score. The better the score, the better the assessment from financial institutions for the credit withdrawal process. Although credit score is not the only assessment and there are other points.

SLIK also has a level of fluency. Usually this SLIK data becomes one of the calculations by banks or financial institutions when they want to extend credit.

OJK now has a site for checking credit history independently with the idebku website. So on the idebku website, people no longer need to queue at the OJK office. For example, if you want to apply for car installments, motorcycles, to the house. Lenders such as banks will check the credit history of the prospective debtor.

Companies can also check their consumer records independently without having to queue again at the OJK office.

The site that was recently launched by the OJK is https://idebku.ojk.go.id which can be accessed via smartphones, laptops/computers, or tablets as long as they are connected to the internet. The types of information provided by idebku include information on individual debtors, business entity debtors, and debtors who have passed away.
